Readers of media evaluations have high quality expectations, which are naturally hard to achieve when clippings are produced manually. In manual production articles are often misaligned, copies can only be prepared in black-and-white and are lacking a logo, important metadata or a contents list.

Producing the clippings digitally with a NEWBASE PressClipping system offers many advantages. You can scan in a variety of print media, from magazines to two-sided newspaper pages, in colour as well, of course. The system also allows to import pages available in various formats such as HTML, TIFF or JPEG files. ePAPER and PDF files can also be captured. With the NEWBASE WebShot application web articles can be manually cut online and imported.

An automatic scene analysis process differentiates the article’s component elements (headings, text, authors, diagrams and others) to enable easy clipping of the article.

Articles are selected using the Cut&Paste module and clipped with easy-to-use tools and is then assigned to a client or simply saved.

Each article undergoes an automatic character recognition process using OCR. The resulting data is made available as full text and metadata. The articles are archived in a database so that they can be used again within a limited period.

Individual clippings can be printed or converted into PDF files. The PDF files and metadata can then be made available to a client for import into a system or portal or for the creation of individual press reviews.
